The head coach of Los Angeles Galaxy, Bruce Arena, has said that Landon Donovan will probably join the Galaxy camp in March.
Donovan has been given a bit of time off by the club and the 30 years old American winger will not play for his team right from the start of the MLS season. He will return after a few matches.
There have been speculations that Donovan might never return to galaxy. But, this statement of Arena has made things clear.
This is certainly great news for the Galaxy fans because Donovan has won a lot of matches for Galaxy in the last 8 years.
Donovan’s record for Los Angeles Galaxy is simply awesome. He has featured for Galaxy in 194 matches and has scored 92 goals.
Donovan’s performance in the last season was quite good. He had helped his team win the MLS Championship, but, after that, Donovan had publicly said that he wanted to have a few months off to think about his future. Donovan had also said that he was not sure if he would return to Galaxy or not.
When asked about the exact timing of Donovan’s return, Arena said, “I think he will probably come back towards the end of March. We are desperately waiting for him to join the camp again as he is the most experienced player of the side and he is a match winner.”
“He played a lot of football last year and he wanted to have a break. So, we allowed him to have a few months off. I hope that when he will return, he will be a lot fresher, both physically and mentally.”
Galaxy will start its MLS season by facing Chicago on 3rd of March. Galaxy will play its next match against Chivas USA on 17th of March. Donovan is expected to miss these two matches.
